Nigerian Man Chased Out of Malta

Nigerian born Micahel Ajibode, aged 40, who has lived in Malta for 11 years, has been denied permanent residency. Michael's fate began when he immigrated to Libya where he taught English and later became a security guard in a hotel.

Here he met a Maltese lady who was a missionary and the couple later moved to Malta after getting married in 2003. Unfrotunatley, Micahel's bad luck began as only two months before he was entitled to file for citizenship, his wife filed for a seperation, claiming that he was abusing her.

Micahel has been fighting in court to stay in Malta but he has a lot riding against him as he has also been summoned to court for apparently stealing money from his previous employer.

Many people flocked to social media to give their opinion on the matter with many Maltese citizens agreeing that he should be deported back to Nigeria, while Non-Maltese citizens claim that he should get citizenship based on the fact that he paid taxes in Malta and lived there for so long.
